UAB cardiothoracic surgeon Panayotis Vardas, M.D., has been selected to attend the inaugural Society of Thoracic Surgeons Leadership Summit. The course, “Leadership Beyond the Operating Room for Early Career Surgeons,” is designed to help develop the next generation of leaders in cardiac surgery.

Vardas and the other participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures given by STS leaders and learn leadership skills that are essential for success. The interactive course will be held on Jan. 24, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana and will emphasize three core principles: managing people, managing finances, and managing yourself.
