The Division of Transplantation’s Assistant Professor Takayuki Yamamoto, M.D., Ph.D., was recently awarded funding from the Department of Defense Joint Program Committee 6 Combat Casualty Care Research Program and the office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs.
His Fiscal Year 2019 Defense Medical Research and Development Program Multi-Domain Lifesaving Trauma Innovations Award application is entitled, “Skin Grafting from 9-Gene Genetically Engineered Pigs in the Treatment of Burns: An Experimental Study in Monkeys.”
According to the DOD, funding recommendations were made at a second-tier, programmatic review meeting based on program goals and scientific merit.
Yamamoto's grant will be funded between 2020 and 2022.
