UAB Department of Surgery Professor Robert Cannon, M.D., FACS has been appointed to the monthly publication Transplantation, the official journal of the Transplantation Society and the International Liver Transplantation Society.

The mission of Transplantation is “to be the primary trusted publication for: information, interest and education; stimulation of debate; and to highlight both progress and gaps in knowledge, for professional clinicians, scientists, and policy makers of all disciplines across the clinical sciences and basic sciences of transplantation.”

The editorial board that Cannon joined focuses on five sections of work: the liver, clinical sciences, basic sciences, special features and statistics and bioinformatics. The work that Cannon will review is slated to be published in the Transplantation journal or its online sister site, Transplantation Direct.

The journal seeks diverse perspectives and expertise from around the world to join the editorial board, so about 20 percent of the board rotates each year. Cannon was pleased to be selected to represent the UAB Department of Surgery among this international group of scholars.

“To join the editorial board of Transplantation is a great honor for me,” said Cannon. “Playing a role in helping shape the release of new knowledge has always been a priority for me, and I am looking forward to supporting the global advancement of transplantation.”
