Dr. Pamela StricklandLast month, Department of Surgery Clinical Assistant Professor Pamela Strickland, M.D., was a panelist in an American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS)-sponsored webinar. Strickland practices at the UAB Montgomery Regional Medical Campus.

The webinar topic focused on the recent launch a COVID-19 specific registry within the ASBrS Mastery of Breast Surgery Program℠. The ASBrS states that “During the COVID-19 pandemic, breast surgeons are modifying their practices to maximize the care and safety of staff and patients.” To study these changes, ASBrS created a new, short data-entry process for patients treated during the COVID-pandemic. Mastery is a members-only HIPAA compliant program that can capture patient specific data.

Strickland enjoyed speaking more about patient-care adaptations and clinical safety measures that UAB clinics are implementing in order to create a safe experience for breast-care patients.

“Many patients are facing anxiety and worry during their in-person appointment, and it is wonderful to take a moment to knowledge-share about the ways in which providers across the country are ensuring patient safety during this pandemic,” said Strickland. “I am pleased to be a part of documenting the ways in which we are treating patients during this time, and I hope that it leads to future, permanent improvements for the patient point-of-care.”
