UAB Match Day

Although Match Day 2020 did not look exactly like match day in years past due to the COVID-19 outbreak, fourth-year medical students across the country engaged online through social media, sharing where they were matched. While it was impossible to have everyone in the same room at one time, the excitement could still be felt virtually.

That means that it is time for us to say goodbye to our trainees who have matched into fellowship programs or private practice. But, it is also time to say hello to our incoming residents from medical schools across the nation.

In an ongoing series, the Department of Surgery will feature incoming and outgoing trainees for all UAB Surgery programs. This week, learn about those joining and leaving the Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency Program and the Vascular Surgery Fellowship.

Hello:

This year, the UAB Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency Program welcomes C. Adams Banks M.D., from the UAB School of Medicine, while the Vascular Surgery Fellowship program welcomes Felipe Cadavid, M.D.

As Banks prepares to enter the Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency, outgoing UAB integrated vascular surgery resident Rachel Wilson, M.D., will join the AdventHealth Medical Group Vascular Surgery of Orlando as a provider. Meanwhile, graduating fellow W. Foster Gaillard, M.D., who started his vascular surgery fellowship training at UAB in 2018, will join the UAB Division of Vascular Surgery in August as a clinical instructor.
