New Division of Surgical Oncology Assistant Professor Ashley Holder, M.D., FACS has joined the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds Committee. The committee acts to organize dynamic speakers for department Grand Rounds. 

The Grand Rounds Committee has two other members in addition to Holder: Daniel Chu, M.D., Danielle Sutzko, M.D. Holder took over for Colin Martin, M.D., FACS, who stepped down to co-lead the Department of Surgery Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee as associate vice chair. Martin looks forward to the continuing work of Chu and Sutzko as well as the addition of Holder.

“This committee is comprised of many diverse backgrounds, experiences and specialties,” said Martin. “There is no doubt that this will bolster the learning of all physicians across the Department of Surgery. I believe that we will see a very robust and engaging speaker lineup for 2020 and 2021 Grand Rounds.” 

UAB Department of Surgery Grand Rounds are an ACGME-accredited source of continuing medical education for physicians. Experts from UAB and across the country lecture on a range of cutting-edge surgical topics. Surgical Grand Rounds is held weekly on Tuesday, typically from 7 – 8 a.m. It is likely that the remainder of 2020 Grand Rounds will occur solely on a virtual platform.
