UAB general surgery resident and Beierle Lab member, Laura Bownes, M.D., received the Best Abstract Award in Basic and Translational Research at this month’s UAB Pediatric Science Day, an annual event at  Children's of Alabama that celebrates the research efforts of medical students, residents and fellows.
