UAB Division of Transplantation Assistant Professor Babak Orandi, M.D., Ph.D., M.Sc., was selected as the inaugural UAB participant in the UAB and University of California (UC)- Davis Visiting Professor Junior Faculty Exchange Program.

This program is a collaboration with the UC-Davis Department of Surgery faculty development SUCCEED Program. Through the program, Orandi will virtually visit the UC-Davis Department of Surgery in Sacramento, CA. UAB will host Michael Campbell, M.D., from the UC-Davis Department of Surgery Section of Endocrine Surgery through a similar virtual program.

The exchange program was created to build an academic relationship between the two departments and to provide a mechanism for junior faculty to disseminate their research, expand their networks and learn from other leaders and experts outside of their home institution.

Director of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy and Director of the Faculty Exchange Program Adam Beck, M.D., is looking forward to the collaborative spirit that Orandi and Campbell will contribute to through their participation.

“We are excited to have Dr. Orandi share his research in transplant surgery with the faculty at UC-Davis,” said Beck. “Even at a relatively early stage in his career, Dr. Orandi is a thought leader here at UAB, and I know that the faculty of the UC-Davis Department of Surgery will thoroughly enjoy his time with them.”
