Department of Surgery Assistant Professor Renata Jaskula-Sztul, Ph.D., has won a two-year, $160,000 O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB grant- which is designed to enable competitive R01 applications- for her project "Inhibition of Medullary Thyroid Cancer Invasiveness by Targeting Voltage-gated Sodium Channels."

Jaskula-Stzul is one of seven UAB faculty awarded a spring 2020 grant from a pool of 57 grant applications, which were reviewed and scored by three panel members. She will become a member of the O’Neal Cancer Center, as will all other awardees. In total, the Cancer Center awarded $1.1 million. To see a full list of awardees, visit the official announcement.
