The UAB Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship recently matched two incoming fellows for positions, beginning in the summer of 2021.
Raheel Jajja, M.B.B.S. will complete his surgical residency in spring 2021 at Emory University. During his research sabbatical in residency he studied the use of nanoprobes in imaging and treatment of colorectal liver metastases and pancreatic cancer. Prior to training at Emory, he completed a research fellowship in cancer biology at UNC. He is a graduate of the Aga Khan University Medical College.
Margaux Mustian, M.D., will complete her surgical residency in spring 2021 at UAB. During her residency, she completed an MSPH at the UAB School of Public Health and conducted research under the mentorship of Director of the Division of Transplantation Jayme Locke, M.D., MPH. Prior to coming to UAB, she graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine.
The Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship is a two-year, American Society of Transplant Surgeons-accredited fellowship covering all aspects of kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation; dialysis access surgery; and hepatobiliary surgery. The program looks forward to welcoming Jajja and Mustian next summer.
