Division of Plastic Surgery Professor and Director of Research Timothy King, M.D., Ph.D., has been elected to the Advisory Council for Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery as a representative for the Plastic Surgery Research Council.
King’s three-year term on the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Advisory Council began Oct. 9. The council meets twice a year and is composed of Specialty Society Representatives, participants from the Board of Governors and liaisons to the College’s Program Committee, Scientific Forum, Young Fellows Association, and Resident and Associate Society.
The Advisory Council has several responsibilities such as serving as a liaison in the communication of information to and from plastic and maxillofacial surgery societies and the Board of Regents as well as providing plastic and maxillofacial surgery input into the development of general and specialty sessions, including postgraduate courses, for the college's Clinical Congress– among other functions as a council.
King is delighted to support crucial efforts of the Advisory Council for Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery and the ACS as a whole.
“Serving as a research council representative on this advisory council will help ensure that research will continue to have a strong voice in the future proceedings of the ACS,” said King. “It’s an honor to represent the UAB Department of Surgery as well as the Division of Plastic Surgery on this national council.”
