Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Colin Martin, M.D., FACS, and DEI Committee Member and General Surgery Resident Meixi Ma, M.D., M.S., will lead a DEI Q&A on Twitter on Monday, Jun. 21  at 3 p.m.

Martin and Ma will engage with the UAB Surgery Twitter handle, which will tweet questions about improving DEI efforts and pipelines within surgical departments.

As champions of DEI within the department, Martin and Ma will have the opportunity to share their personal perspectives and how physicians across the nation can be an ally in diversity efforts. The much-anticipated event will be an opportunity for physicians to learn more about diversity in medicine.

“We hope that trainees and established surgeons alike will join us for the Q&A,” said Martin. “Dr. Ma and I look forward to sharing more about URIM voices, their contributions in the field of medicine, and how surgical departments can create a more hospitable environment for diversity.”
