Four general surgery residents have been selected to serve on various UAB Graduate Medical Office (GME) committees.
- Swara Bajpai, M.D., Patient Safety Committee
- Hannah Ficarino, M.D., Clinical Communications Committee
- Adam Lucy, M.D., Quality Improvement Committee
- Mary Smithson, M.D., Pharmacy + Therapeutics Committee
Each of the committees upholds the mission of the UAB GME Office, which is committed to trainees’ professional and personal growth, including developing their skills as team leaders, teachers, researchers, critical appraisers of evidence-based literature, and providing them with the skills to become advocates in patient safety and quality care.
In their roles, these four residents will act as a liaison between the GME office and training programs, representing a key voice on their respective committees. General Surgery Residency Program Director Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, FACS, is delighted that four residents were selected.
“Each of these residents brings a unique perspective and experience to each of their committees,” said Corey. “They will certainly add a lot of value, and I look forward to watching them grow through this opportunity.”
