Manley Nathan 200x150 bThe UAB Department of Surgery is pleased to welcome Nathan Manley, M.D., M.S., MPH, to the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery as an assistant professor.

Manley received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where he also completed his general surgery residency.

During his time at UTHSC, he spent two years as a trauma research fellow, studying the epidemiology of firearm violence, lower extremity vascular injuries, blunt cerebral vascular injuries, colon injuries, and prehospital traumatic cardiac arrest.

Prior to medical school, he earned his Master of Public Health in Forced Migration and Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana.

Manley was commissioned with the United States Air Force in 2018 and went on active duty upon completion of his general surgery training. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is a Stop the Bleed instructor.
