General Surgery Resident Adam Lucy, M.D., has been voted into the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) Clinical and Health Services Research Committee during phase one of the committee selection.
Lucy is proud to represent the UAB Department of Surgery and the General Surgery Residency Program on this national level.
“It’s a great honor to be selected as a member of an AAS committee, and I am so grateful for the opportunity,” said Lucy. “I look forward to promoting the advancement of clinical and health services research across the field of surgery.”
The AAS Clinical and Health Services Research Committee plans a research course held during the fall course series each October before the start of the Academic Surgical Congress, which the committee also develops related programming for.
In preparation for the ACS, the committee also promotes submission of high-quality abstracts and review of abstracts. Plus, they recruit, involve, and develop future health services (HSR) research leaders in surgery and review clinical and HSR grant applications.
Self-nominations are now open for the AAS Ethics, Global Affairs, Committee on Technology and Communications, Leadership, Military, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Membership Committees. Nominations are due Nov. 22, and all UAB Surgery faculty are encouraged to apply.
