UAB Medicine Office of Patient Experience and Engagement (OPXE) has recognized 16 Department of Surgery providers in the 2021 list of “Top-Performing” providers.
This year, the OPXE recognized 151 physicians and APPs who are in the top providers across UAB Medicine for the Physician Communication domain. These providers scored an average of 98 percent or higher (n ≥ 30) in these five domains:
- Listened carefully
- Demonstrated care and concern
- Clear explanations
- Included patient in health care decisions
- Overall care rating, 0-10
Their commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care is one of the reasons UAB organization continues to excel in its pursuit to become one of the nation’s best health care systems.

As revealed by our patients, you have demonstrated consistent kindness despite the difficulties you faced.”
