UAB general surgery resident Marvi Tariq, M.D., has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2021 Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Looking to the Future Resident Scholarship.

This scholarship, which is sponsored by the STS and its members, grants recipients of the award admission to the STS 58th Annual Meeting along with a travel grant of up to $500.

The UAB Department of Surgery has had had several residents selected for this prestigious scholarship over the years. In 2017, Vanessa DiPasquale Miller, M.D. won the award, while Brett Melnikoff, M.D., won it in 2019 and Ammar Asban, MBBS was named the scholarship awardee in 2020. 

This year, meeting will be held Jan. 29-31, 2020, in Miami Beach Florida, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
