General Surgery Resident Connie Shao, M.D., has been named to the editorial board of Diseases of the Colon & Rectum (DCR) as a member of the Class of 2022-2023 Reviewer’s Guild Team.

According to leadership of the guild, the goal of the DCR Reviewer's Guild is to mentor and guide members who will represent the up-and-coming group of thought leaders and academic leaders in colon and rectal surgery.

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum is the world's leading publication in colorectal surgery, ranking in the top 10 percent of all peer-reviewed surgery journals. As a member of the Reviewer’s Guild Team, Shao will complete an online peer-review training program, and then she will dive in as a peer-reviewer of the journal.

Shao looks forward to supporting the journal and getting to know other members of the editorial team.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to stay informed on the cutting edge of colon and rectum surgical techniques, methods, and treatments, and I look forward to reading quality research submitted to the journal,” said Shao. “I'm grateful to my GI surgery mentors Drs. Greg Kennedy and Daniel Chu– it’s an honor to join the board.”
