Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and Associate Professor Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, FACS, was presented gifts from her general surgery residents expressing their gratitude and appreciation.
Corey was named the General Surgery Residency Program Director March of 2020. The program provides a robust clinical experience with various unique opportunities including research participation, extensive robotic surgery training, and international training opportunities.
The program aims to train diverse residents to pursue individualized paths towards the common goal of clinical excellence and leadership in surgery in order to provide compassionate, high quality care and improve the practice of medicine.
As part of Match Day 2022, the residency program will welcome 10 new trainees this summer which includes a preliminary PGY1, PGY2, and Integrated CT resident.
General Surgery Resident Connie Shao, M.D., takes note how much Corey means to the success of the residency program.
“She truly cares so passionately about the residents and we can all feel it. She always has her door open and makes herself available,” said Shao. “It was gratifying to see how much she appreciated these gifts from the residents, even though she has never expected nor anticipated any recognition for her role as program director.”
