Assistant Director of the Medical Student Surgery Clerkship and Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery Instructor Margaux Mustian, M.D., MSPH, has matched with the UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery as the 2023-2024 UAB Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow.
The UAB Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program was established in 2003 and offers advanced training in a broad range of surgical disciplines. The purpose of the program is to excel in advanced operative techniques, clinical care and education that targets each fellow’s specific clinical interests, from bariatric and foregut to hernia and colorectal.
Mustian completed her general surgery residency at UAB in 2021 and currently serves as a clinical instructor, working at both UAB and the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Her research interests include health disparities and access to healthcare. Mustian is extremely honored for this opportunity to increase her skills as a surgeon.
“I am very excited to have matched with the MIS fellowship at a prestigious surgical training program like UAB,” Mustian said. “I believe the MIS faculty will provide me with the skillset needed to continue on the path of academic surgery. I am looking forward to joining the fellowship program in the summer of 2023.”
