The General Surgery Residency Program honored chief residents, as well as supporting faculty and residents across the program, at awards day as well as a chief resident dinner.
Residents endured a difficult training year, demonstrating preservation. Though the global pandemic showed signs of improvement, residents supported the highest trauma volume UAB has experienced. Program Director, Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, FACS, is grateful to the residents for their dedication and grit.
“These outstanding chief residents have given so much of themselves during their five or more years with the department,” said Corey. “Graduating a general surgery residency program is an incredible accomplishment, and each resident should be so proud of their hard work.”
Program leadership recognized several residents with awards for their leadership and performance, and residents presented faculty and division awards as well. Below is a complete list of the awards presented.
