The Medical School for International Health Alumni Council selected Lily Gutnik, M.D., UAB Department of Surgery associate vice chair for global surgery and assistant program director for global surgery for the General Surgery Residency Program, to serve as the 2022 Physician's Oath Speaker.

The MSIH Alumni Council notes that they selected Gutnik as they were confident she would serve as a wonderful alumni ambassador, given her extensive global health experience and distinguished accomplishments. 

The Physician's Oath Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Generally, the alumni speaker stays in Beer Sheva, Israel, for two-three days to meet with students and administrators.

Gutnik is honored to have been selected.

“I attended the Medical School for International Health because I knew then that my calling as a surgeon-scientist would be to impact the field of global surgery,” said Gutink. “I am proud to be in a position to do so with UAB Surgery as the Associate Vice Chair for Global Surgery where I get to track new and existing UAB Surgery global efforts and establish global partnerships to facilitate bidirectional education for surgical trainees.”
