To honor 25 years of Cancer Awareness Network (CAN), Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Assistant Professor and Associate Vice Chair of Global Surgery Lily Gutnik, M.D., will be featured in the CAN Cancer Empowerment Summit 2022 on August 26 at Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama.

Gutnik joins two other medical experts as they discuss resources to motivate patients and survivors to work towards quality health. According to CAN, the purpose of the Cancer Empowerment Summit is to identify barriers in cancer care and ways to empower patients to be their own advocates.

CAN educates the community by providing materials for preventive measures that families can implement to assist future generations by lowering the risk of getting cancer. Healthy eating habits, non-smoking, and exercise are our main focal points in this area.

Gutnik is looking forward to presenting at the meeting.
