corey portrait high res.jpg 400x300University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Surgery General Surgery Residency Program Director and Associate Professor Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, FACS, has been named an associate member in the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.

Developed under the auspices of the ACS Division of Education, the academy recognizes surgeon educators who have devoted their careers to surgical education. Individuals are selected as members or associate members following stringent peer review. The academy’s mission is to play a leadership role in advancing the science and practice of education across all surgical specialties, promoting the highest achievements in the lifetimes of surgeons.

Corey's research interests focus on improving surgical education and holistic review in graduate medical education. She is passionate about supporting learners during undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Corey's clinical interests center around complex abdominal wall hernias, flank hernias, and hiatal hernia and anti-reflux surgery including magnetic sphincter augmentation. She offers laparoscopic, robotic, and open approaches to these complex surgical diseases.

Corey is honored to be inducted into this year’s class.
