UAB Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Assistant Professor and Medical Student Surgery Clerkship Director Jessica Fazendin, M.D. has been selected as the visiting professor from UAB to the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center.

In addition, Fazendin is a learning communities’ mentor at the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine and the deputy chief of surgery at the Birmingham VA. She is excited to be joining the UTSW Grand Rounds meeting as part of an exchange program between the two institutions.

“I am deeply interested in diverse, effective teams. And one aspect of diversity largely goes under-appreciated: age,” says Fazendin.

Fazendin will discuss multi-generational teams in surgery and how they utilize individual strengths during her talk at UTSW this coming April.  

“I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned while at UAB and to gain insight into the innovative practices at UTSW,” says Fazendin.
