UAB Cardiovascular Imaging recently participated in a Living Heart Foundation screening event for former NFL players. Staff provided 62 comprehensive wellness screenings, along with echocardiograms, carotid ultrasounds, and EKGs, to the former players and their spouses.
Staff who participated in the event were: Ashley Jenkins, Peaches Steele, Gracie Keller, Stephanie Catron, Terry Gilmore, Gunnar Hulebak, and Denise Usrey.
About the Living Heart Foundation
The Living Heart Foundation was created in 2003 by Dr. Archie Roberts, a former NFL player and retired cardiothoracic surgeon, to combat sudden cardiac death and provide early treatment intervention for retired athletes through on-site screenings.
