Haverstock & PattersonUAB Surgery Assistant Professor Brent Haverstock, DPM, FACFAS, and Professor Mark Patterson, M.D., will discuss the work of the UAB Advanced Limb Preservation Program at the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Fall Forum.

The Advanced Limb Preservation Program is a collaborative partnership including representatives from vascular surgery, podiatry, and wound care. As a group, these specialties administer comprehensive care for lower extremity and pedal problems with the primary goal of digital and extremity amputation prevention. Patients with peripheral arterial disease, diabetes with associated diabetic complications or non-healing wounds of any type are eligible for care.

“Our foremost priority is providing advanced, compassionate care for our patients,” says Haverstock, co-director of the Clinic. “Being able to share what we’ve learned with physicians across the state is a rewarding experience that we hope will benefit conference attendees and their practices.” Patterson adds, “It is always a privilege to engage primary care physicians in hopes of providing additional perspective as to the current methods used to treat these often insidious problems.”
