UAB General Surgery Resident Mallory Perez, M.D., has recently received a position in the Collaborative Northwestern Surgical Oncology Research Training program (CONSORT) funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) T32 training grant.

The CONSORT program combines oncologic expertise from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center to provide surgeon-scientists with a two-year immersion in multidisciplinary research training and tailored mentorship.

Perez will participate in research design and execute projects presented at major national surgical conferences and publications in high-impact journals.

The ultimate goal of the CONSORT program is to increase the success of surgeon-scientists in oncological academic careers as they develop into future leaders in medical research.
