The Pancreatobiliary Disease Center has recently added a digital resource for patients to stay connected to their healthcare team after they leave the hospital.

The Center’s new Facebook support group will serve as a platform for members to learn, have access to community resources, and share their experiences.

Through the Facebook group, members can learn about local events, read follow-up wellness tips, and digitally interact with care providers.

“We wanted to create an educational outlet that would meet our patients where they are comfortable and would feel most supported,” says R.N. Clinical Care Coordinator Devin Gray. “Facebook is a great way for us to stay connected and help identify any informational gaps we may notice to make sure support group members are receiving the best care possible.”

 UAB’s Pancreaticobiliary Disease Center is the first of its kind in Alabama to offer treatment options for diseases of the pancreas and bile duct. Their patient care teams work to provide personalized treatment plans that best fit the needs of the patient.
