UAB Division of Pediatric Surgery Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Dr. Colin Martin was appointed to serve as a consultant to the Pediatric Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery for the Pediatric Surgery In-Training Examination (PSITE).

The PSITE is offered annually in a web-based platform to assess the progress of residents studying pediatric surgery.

As a consultant, Martin will serve a term of five years, in which he will create and review testing objectives and questions for the PSITE.

“Ensuring that our pediatric surgeons are equipped with the knowledge and critical thinking skills they need for the OR is essential to a successful residency experience,” says Martin. “I am honored to be selected as a consultant and look forward to co-developing instruments that effectively prepare future pediatric surgeons.”

Martin additionally serves as President-Elect of the Medical Staff at Children’s of Alabama and Surgical Director for UAB/Children’s of Alabama Center for Advanced Rehabilitation.
