UAB General Surgery Resident Madhushree Zope, M.D., has been accepted into the 2023-2024 Integrated Networks of Scholars in Global Health Research Training (INSIGHT) program consortium.
The INSIGHT program is a collaboration between the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Maryland Baltimore and the University of Pittsburgh to support the training of the next generation of global health scholars.
As an INSIGHT fellow, Dr. Zope will participate in a mentorship through research training experiences in global health at established biomedical and behavioral research sites across 24 LMIC institutions in 20 countries.
This one-year program equips fellows with the necessary tools and experiences to conduct global health research.
Dr. Zope’s research team will be led by Dr. Lily Gutnik, Dr. Bip Nandi, Dr. Casey McAtee and Dr. Jed Nuchtern, with plans to conduct pediatric surgical outcomes research in Lilongwe, Malawi.
