UAB Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Assistant Professor Lily Gutnik, M.D., has been selected for the 2023-2024 Union for International Cancer Control (UICC’s) Young Leaders Programme.

This year, the program received an unprecedented amount of applications, with Gutnik being selected as one of only ten recipients. Her cohort consists of a diverse group of cancer control professionals from different countries across the globe. Gutnik is the only recipient from the U.S.

The program, which takes place every other year, aims to support aspiring young cancer control professionals to become leaders in the international health community.

As a recipient, Gutnik will engage in group work on select focus topics, access instruction on key cancer control leadership areas, and attend the 2023 World Cancer Leaders’ Summit in Long Beach and the 2024 World Cancer Congress in Geneva.

The one-year program will enable recipients to drive an impact on important issues in cancer control and collaborate with a diverse network of UICC professionals.
