The UAB Department of Surgery congratulates Administrative HR Director Marva Morgan, MHA, on her recent graduation from the Birmingham School of Law with her Juris Doctorate.

Morgan joined the UAB Department of Surgery in 2020 and has an extensive career that has spanned Human Resources roles in both manufacturing and healthcare. She is a United States Veteran, a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management. As Administrative Director, she coordinates strategic HR initiatives for the department, while working in partnership with leadership to help enhance organizational capabilities.

When asked about what advice she would give to fellow Surgery colleagues who might be considering a similar path for an additional degree, she says: “My advice to colleagues considering an additional degree would be to carefully assess the relevance of the chosen program to current trends and business needs. Ensure the program aligns with emerging skills and technologies in their field of choice. Additionally, network with professionals in similar roles to gain insights, and do not underestimate the value of practical experience alongside academic knowledge."
