UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery Advanced GI/Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellow Margaux Mustian, M.D., MSPH, has been appointed to the Fellowship Council's communication committee.

In her role, Mustian will assist the national organization in messaging related to the oversight of fellowship training programs that seeks to uphold uniformly high standards and produce well-trained surgeons.

In addition to her committee involvement, Mustian conducts research focusing on health disparities and access to healthcare. She has also served as associate clerkship director for third-year medical students and will resume that role after the completion of her fellowship.

"We are thrilled that Margaux will serve as a representative of our department through her involvement in the Fellowship Council," says UAB Department of Surgery Executive Vice Chair Gregory Kennedy, M.D., Ph.D. "Her dedication to surgical education and health services research will certainly make her successful in this new committee role."
