UAB Division of Transplantation Associate Professor and Vera Hauptfeld-Dolejsek Endowed Professor in Transplant Immunology Paige Porrett, M.D., Ph.D., was recently appointed as the president-elect of the International Society of Uterus Transplantation (ISUTx).

Porrett will serve in the role for two years, before assuming the role of president, beginning in 2026.

Last year, Porrett was also instrumental in bringing the ISUTx 4th International Congress to Birmingham, where members of the society from across the globe convened to discuss the latest research and findings of uterine transplantation.

In addition to her leadership roles in the ISUTx, Porrett also serves as the director of both VCA transplantation and clinical and translational research at the UAB Comprehensive Transplant Institute.

At UAB, Porrett began the fourth uterus transplant program in the United States and is recognized as a national and international leader in the field of uterus transplantation. Just last year, the program welcomed its first baby.
