Dr. Margaux MustianUAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery Clinical Instructor Margaux Mustian, M.D., MSPH, has been appointed to the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) Resident & Fellows Education Committee.

The goal of the Resident & Fellow Educational Committee is to encourage residents and fellows to participate in SSAT activities and the Annual Meeting.

Mustian will actively collaborate with the Program Committee to enhance the Resident and Fellows Research Conference, develop and promote specialized sessions at the Annual Meeting tailored to residents, and provide valuable content for the Resident Corner, a dedicated section of the SSAT website.

Additionally, she will work closely with social media channels to actively engage residents and drive recruitment of resident members to the SSAT Committee.

Mustian earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University and completed her general surgery residency at UAB. After completion of her Advanced Gastrointestinal Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship, she will remain at UAB as an Assistant Professor in August 2024.

“I am excited to join this committee and create resources for residents and fellows as they begin to become involved with the SSAT,” says Mustian. “Trainees are an invaluable component of membership and the future of the organization, so it’s an honor to be able to serve the society in this capacity.”
