Dr. Britney CoreyUAB Department of Surgery Associate Professor and General Surgery Program Director Britney Corey, M.D, MACM, has been selected to serve as fellowship council liaison for the Association of Program Directors (APDS) in surgery, from 2024 to 2027. 

"I am honored to have been chosen as a liaison for the APDS fellowship council. Through my role as a program director, I have experienced substantial professional development and am honored to serve through the APDS," says Corey. 

Corey earned her medical degree at Texas A&M School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency and minimally invasive GI fellowship at UAB.

Her areas of clinical interest include abdominal wall hernias and utilizing minimally-invasive techniques for gastrointestinal surgery.

Corey's research is dedicated to advancing surgical education and evaluating graduate medical education. A testament to her dedication, Corey has also obtained Master of Academic Medicine from the USC Keck School of Medicine to further her administrative and research knowledge base for advancing medical education. 

About the APDS 

The Association of Program Directors in Surgery, established in 1977, aims to provide a forum for the exchange of information and discussion related to post-graduate surgical education, maintain high standards of surgical residency training, offer support to program directors, promote research, and represent the interests of program directors in the education and training of surgeons.
