UAB Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Clinical Assistant Professor Katelin Holmes, D.O., FACS, has graduated from UAB's Sharing Authentically to Inspire and Lead (SAIL) Program. She was a member of the fall 2023 cohort.
Dr. Holmes completed her medical education at the University of Pikeville and her general surgery residency training at the University of Texas at Houston. She later joined OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, to complete her breast surgery fellowship.
Dr. Holmes's primary clinical interests include hidden scar techniques and oncoplastic breast surgery. She also performs in sentinel lymph node biopsies and reverse axillary lymphatic mapping.
"The SAIL program has a skilled team that supports our personal and professional development. I was surrounded by other inspiring female faculty members and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to participate. This program promotes a sense of community and collaborative growth within the group," says Holmes.

The Sharing Authentically to Inspire and Lead (SAIL) Program is committed to providing leadership development opportunities for a select group of junior female faculty (assistant professors). Its mission is to assist female doctors in overcoming the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by women in medicine, fostering a sense of inclusivity and support.
