fellows and facultyThe Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery said farewell – and welcome aboard – to the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellows at a dinner on Friday, July 19 at The Club atop Red Mountain.

 Danny Lammers, M.D., and Thomas Sensing, D.O., finished up their second year of the fellowship this summer. A two-year commitment is required for military fellows.

Lammers is an active duty member of the Army and will be embedded at University of North Carolina while assigned to Fort Liberty.

Sensing, who’s an active duty member of the Air Force, will be embedded at St. Louis University Hospital through the C-STARS (Center for the Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills) program.

Cassandra Krause, M.D., and John Kuk, M.D., completed their fellowship and will be leaving Birmingham.

Krause will be returning to Loma Linda University in California where she attended medical school and completed her residency.

Kuk has been hired at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Michelle Mangold, D.O., is in the Air Force and will be a Clinical Instructor for the division as she completes her second year of the fellowship.

Preston Hewgley, M.D., is staying at UAB – he has been hired on as Assistant Professor and officially joins the faculty on August 1.
