UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery Professor Melanie Morris, M.D., has been named an Associate Chief Quality Officer (ACQO) for UAB Medicine.
As an ACQO, Morris will identify opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness and drive process improvements within the UAB Health System. She will also mentor new physician advisors and medical directors in the Accountable Care Team structure. In addition, she serves on the Patient Safety committee to ensure safe care is provided to all our patients.
Morris is a colorectal surgeon, who holds several leadership roles at UAB, including Vice Chair of Perioperative Services, Co-Chair of the OR Executive Committee, and Physician Advisor for the Center for Patient Flow for UAB hospital.
