The UAB Department of Surgery is honored to welcome several new faculty members – including Drs. Tania K. Arora, Kyle Mauk, and Margaux Mustian.
About Dr. Tania Arora
Tania K. Arora, M.D., FACS, FSSO, joined the UAB Department of Surgery's Division of Surgical Oncology as a professor in July 2024. She also serves as the Department's Vice Chair of Access & Engagement.
Selected after an intensive nationwide search, Arora, a board-certified surgical oncologist, has focused her clinical and research practice on quality improvement in healthcare education, in addition to diversity and inclusion in surgery. She has also previously served as assistant dean for belonging and inclusivity at Augusta University.
About Dr. Kyle Mauk
Kyle Mauk, DPM, FACFAS, ABPM, joined the UAB Department of Surgery in August of 2024. He obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He subsequently trained at the University of Florida College of Medicine-UF Health Jacksonville where he completed his podiatric medicine and surgical residency, with a reconstructive rear foot and ankle certification.
Before joining the UAB Department of Surgery, Mauk was an assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery. While there, he served as Associate Residency Program Director for the Podiatric Surgical Residency Program -- providing surgical training for nine residents.
Mauk is dual board certified by both the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
About Dr. Margaux Mustian
Margaux Mustian, M.D., MSPH, has previously served as an instructor in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery and was elevated to assistant professor in August 2024.
Mustian received her undergraduate degree and MD from Wake Forest University. She then completed residency in general surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating, she then began her career as an instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well. Mustian’s research interest includes health disparities and access to healthcare.
