Dr. Connie ShaoJoin us for a special evening at the Heroes and Healers Gala, where we celebrate the incredible resilience of survivors of traumatic injuries and honor those dedicated healthcare professionals who support their journeys. In honor of Trauma Awareness Month in May, the UAB Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is hosting its second annual Heroes and Healers Gala on May 2, at 6:30 p.m.

At this event, attendees will recognize and celebrate survivors of traumatic injury and their families, as well as the first responders and healthcare professionals who saved their lives and helped them on their road to recovery. Your presence will help us shine a light on these remarkable individuals and the extraordinary work being done at UAB. Proceeds from the event will go toward the UAB chapter of the Trauma Survivors Network to support programs for trauma survivors and their families. A ticket purchase includes dinner, dessert, and drinks. Attendees will get to view the premiere of short films about the three trauma survivor honorees, followed by an invitation to take to the dance floor.

The event will take place at Haven, which is located at 2515 6th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233. Tickets are $40 but can be purchased for $25 with code EARLY25 until March 28. The last day to purchase tickets is April 24. Purchase tickets for the event here.

“Last year’s event was wonderful, providing a great opportunity to recognize our patients' hard work in recovery and the positive impact on their support systems,” Lea Melvin, R.N. UED Trauma Lead said. “It was also a joy for our team to celebrate together in a stress-free environment. It truly reminded me how blessed we are to have these resources and to be a part of this mission.”

Join us in making a difference and celebrating the journey of recovery. We look forward to seeing you there!
