Britney Corey, M.D., was awarded a one-time $74,000 grant from the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation General Endowment Fund for her project, "Advancing a Formal Multidisciplinary Surgical Simulation Curriculum through High Fidelity Laparoscopic Simulation."
Jeffrey W. Nix, M.D., from the Department of Urology and Kerri S. Bevis, M.D., from the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology join Corey on this project to develop a laparoscopic simulation curriculum and purchase a high fidelity laparoscopic simulator. The three departments are contributing funds to cover the remaining cost of the project.
"We are very excited about the joint effort among the departments and the opportunity to study the impact of simulation on residency training and clinical outcomes," Corey said.
