The Division of Surgical Oncology is happy to announce that Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., M.E.H.P., will be joining the faculty as an assistant professor of surgery in August 2017 after being heavily recruited by many top-tier institutions. Lindeman will also serve as the associate director of the General Surgery Residency Program and the associate designated institutional official for UAB Graduate Medical Education.
Lindeman is a native of Kentucky, receiving her M.D. from Vanderbilt, and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She did her residency in general surgery at Johns Hopkins University and is currently completing a fellowship in endocrine surgery at the Harvard/Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Lindeman has distinguished herself as a surgical educator. She served as the administrative Chief Resident at Hopkins and won both the Medical Student Teaching and the Resident Teaching awards. She earned a Master's of Education in the Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University and says her desire is to improve the education and experiences of medical students and surgical residents in the United States.
Lindeman has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of American Medical Colleges for the past four years and is an author of the AAMC’s Core Entrustable Professional Activities for Entering Residency.
