James K. Kirklin, M.D. , professor in and former director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, was recently asked to serve as vice president of the American Heart Association’s Greater Southeast Affiliate beginning in July 2017. Kirklin is expected to transition from vice president to president-elect in July 2018 and from president-elect to president in July 2019.
The American Heart Association’s Greater Southeast Affiliate serves Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Puerto Rico and is committed to reducing disability and death due to heart disease and stroke.
