The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery’s Benjamin Wei, M.D., has been selected to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
“One of the great benefits of being a reviewer in my mind has been the opportunity to see cutting-edge work pre-publication,” Wei said. “As an editorial board member, I hope to have even more influence on the direction of the journal and the nature and quality of the articles that surgeons in our field rely on to guide decision making.”
The requirements for board membership include: 1) accepting and completing at least 80% of invitations, 2) completing at least 80% of reviews on time and 3) completing at least 12 reviews per year. Wei’s three-year term on the board will begin June 1.
Wei said he was looking forward to writing editorial commentaries for the journal and bringing a new platform to the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
“Board members are asked regularly to contribute editorial commentaries on published research,” Wei said. “This would give the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UAB a greater voice to speak to trends and topics in general thoracic surgery.”
