Faculty interested in being considered for the 2018 promotion and tenure cycle should approach their division director immediately because the deadline for submission to the Department of Surgery is Monday, December 4.

To be considered a faculty member, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. They must have served three or more years at their current rank.
2. They must be actively involved in the Department of Surgery or School of Medicine.
3. They must have national or international peer recognition.
4. They must have demonstrated sustainability at UAB. 

With the support of their division directors, faculty interested in promotion must submit their CV (in the proper UAB format) and selected areas of emphasis to the Department of Surgery Appointment, Promotion and Tenure committee by Monday, Dec. 4.

To be considered for promotion, faculty must demonstrate excellence in one of the three mission areas—research, teaching or service—and for tenure, faculty must demonstrate excellence in two of the three areas. Find more detailed information and a full schedule for the 2018 cycle here.
