More than 1,200 interns, residents and fellows train in every medical specialty at UAB in Birmingham, at our regional campuses in Montgomery, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa, and in our program in Selma. This year, the UAB Department of Surgery’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship welcomes its new fellow, Matthew W. Romine, M.D. Romine, a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, comes to this fellowship from UAB’s General Surgery Residency. Outgoing fellow Chetan Patel, M.D., will leave UAB to start his own private practice in Orlando, Florida. Patel completed his residency at the University of Miami and medical school at Florida State University.
