Mental health mondayThe University of Alabama at Birmingham Institute for Arts in Medicine presents an opportunity for patrons to cultivate self-care and self-empowerment through its free Art Therapy & Compassion event Monday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. This event is part of AIM’s virtual Mental Health Monday series.

Mindful self-compassion is embracing oneself with care and concern during life challenges. This session will offer mindfulness-based art therapy resources and scientific guidance that can help one have a better self-view and self-understanding.

Speakers for the event include:

  • Patricia D. Isis, Ph.D., licensed mental health counselor, registered board-certified art therapist and credentialed supervisor.
  • Christianne Strang, Ph.D., board-certified art therapist with 25 years of clinical art therapy experience, and 2015 president-elect of the American Art Therapy Association.
