An online summer camp at the University of Alabama at Birmingham will host a “time travel” in history where rising high school juniors and seniors can reimagine actual legal cases and participate in mock mediation and mock trials.

The Journey to Attorney camp is presented by the College of Arts and SciencesDepartment of Criminal Justice. During an intense week, camp students will break down the actual United States Supreme Court cases arising out of the famous Scottsboro Nine trial and reimagine how correcting the injustice in the community may have kept the case out of the courts in the first place.

Students will:

  • Work one-on-one with practicing attorneys, professors and trial experts
  • Learn the essentials to prepare for pre-law studies and law school
  • Improve writing, reasoning and presentation skills for college admission
  • Further develop competencies in critical thinking and writing to be understood and improve scholarship opportunities
  • Meet other students interested in the law

Camp will run July 11-17. Seats are limited. For registration information, visit www.uab.edu/cas/criminaljustice/camps/pre-law-camp.
